Does Your Laundromat Need Extra Employees?

Declan RowanBy Declan RowanJanuary 18, 2023No Comments3 Mins Read

The more your laundromat business will grow, the more you’ll find yourself considering hiring even more staff to man the store. This is a challenging decision to make, as you must ensure you hire the right people, as well as the appropriate number of employees, to help the laundromat grow.

That’s right, you shouldn’t only consider the quality of your laundry parts from Laundry Replacement Parts, you also have to think about your staffing needs! We’ll show you a quick guide to know when it may be time to hire more employees for your laundromat.

Why You Need to Hire More Staff

Hiring more staff isn’t a decision you should take lightly, because it will affect your business in the long run. Hiring more staff will mean more overhead and operating costs, which is why you have to ensure it will be worth the investment, just like the wascomat parts you purchase.

Here are a few things to look into before you decide to hire more employees:

–        The type of laundromat you operate: Self-service laundromats will have different staffing requirements compared to laundromats offering wash-and-fold and/or delivery services.

–        Your budget: Hiring more employees to add to the overhead costs, so you need to ensure your business has the financial resources. Moreover, the added costs of hiring more employees should pay off in the long run.

–        Your customer base: If you begin receiving more complaints and feedback about poor customer service or late deliveries, you need to evaluate your current team and consider adding another member.

–        Your business goals: If you plan to expand the business, hiring more reliable employees can help with your goal.

When to Hire Extra Employees

If you have decided to hire extra employees for your laundromat, you must determine what type of employees you need based on your laundromat business model.

  1. Self-Service

Self-service laundromats won’t require as many employees as other business models. However, you will need at least one attendant seeing to the store during business hours if you won’t be manning the facility. That employee is responsible for tasks like restocking laundry supplies, cleaning the facility, and assisting customers as needed.

If your business is extra busy at certain times, it may be worth having an extra one or two employees to cover such times.

  1. Wash-Dry-Fold

If you offer wash-dry-fold services in the laundromat, it’s important to have at least two attendants for efficient performance. One employee will be washing the clothes while attending the store, while the other is drying and folding clothes for pick-up.

  1. Pick-Up and Delivery

In this business model, you’ll need at least 2-3 employees. One will take care of the pick-up and deliveries, the other will be in charge of the laundry, and the other will attend to the store while assisting with laundry orders as needed. You’ll need more employees here as this is the most labor-intensive laundromat business model!

Wrapping It Up

Before you hire more employees for your laundromat, think of the factors mentioned above!
